Elon Musk’s SpaceX not only made headlines in the past few years but also encouraged a few of our scientists to come up with their space startups. Today, we have a list of 8 Top Space Startups from India who have managed to do some credible work and carved a niche for themselves in outer space.
Let us dive deeper into these companies and see what they are all about.
Agnikul
Agnikul, as the name suggests, means a place where people learn how to use fire. When a group of crazy engineers, rocket scientists, lawyers, and programmers discussed their dreams of celestial space, Agnikul was born. They had a mission to make space accessible.
The idea was born in 2016 but got a formal shape in 2017 in Chennai, India. Agnikul Cosmos later shifted to the National Center for Combustion R&D at IIT Madras and was finally incubated and became a part of the Airbus Accelerator in 2018. Their first success came about when they created their single-piece, 3D-printed, upper-stage engine after receiving some funding from Speciale Invest. Since then, Agnikul has seen a considerable rise in investors, signing of agreements with Launch ports, and more.
Their first real recognition came when they were invited to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with the Indian Space Research Organization. Aspiring and working hard to bring a change in the space study and research niche in India, Agnikul has done credible work so far and this is just the beginning.
Skyroot
Skyroot is on a mission to make space accessible for all, by opening up new horizons using the latest technology. Gone are the days when space stunts were limited to astronauts only. Today’s scientists are working hard to make space transportation affordable and possible for everyone who wants to travel into our celestial reality.
Our lives are being continually enriched using space technology such as GPS, weather prediction, universe study, Satellite internet and television, and more. Space remains a distant dream for most of us today, but Skyroot is envisioning a future where interested people can travel to deep space to understand it clearly. The launch series – Vikram, christened after the famous Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, comprises a series of modular Space launch vehicles specially engineered for the small satellite sector.
The Vikram series is designed to enable the launch of more than 20,000 small satellites in the coming decade. The Vikram vehicles are not only affordable but offer diverse capabilities such as interplanetary missions, multi-orbit insertion, etc while offering rideshare options to many small satellite customer requirements.
Their vision is to make launching satellites into space as easy as booking a cab – fast, accurate, and affordable.
