History
Padma Shri Machani Somappa (L), a visionary leader, believed in using business success to uplift communities and the nation. He founded Stumpp Schuele & Somappa Springs in 1960, the first spring manufacturing unit in India. Recognized with the Padma Shri for his philanthropy, he left a lasting impact on education and skill development.
His establishments, including educational institutions and skill development centers, continue to operate independently, upholding his vision. Today, under his grandnephew Satish Machani, the company, now known as 4S, remains the largest producer of high-quality springs in India. With a legacy of over 70 years, 4S operates in over 10 locations and offers a diverse product portfolio comprising 4,000 varieties of springs.

Satish Machani – Managing Director
Satish, Machani Somappa’s grandnephew, leads as the Managing Director of Stumpp Schuele & Somappa Springs (SSSS) and its subsidiaries. Under his guidance, the SSS group has evolved into a multi-business enterprise, achieving an annual growth rate of 15%, with INR 600 Cr in manufacturing turnover and INR 1200 Cr in consolidated revenues. As the chief mentor of SSS Defence, Satish emphasizes homegrown R&D, global compliance, and agility in customer-centric solutions. Holding a Master’s in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University, Peoria, Satish is also a sommelier in training, an avid golfer, and an athlete.
Vivek Krishnan – CEO
With over 18 years in Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Corporate Finance, Vivek blends leadership and entrepreneurial roles. Renowned for his success in guiding early-stage ventures through pivotal growth phases, he has expertise in Aerospace, Defence, Infrastructure, and Real Estate. Vivek has held leadership roles at Sage Capital, GE Capital India, and GE Real Estate’s Asia growth markets platform. Managing a portfolio exceeding $800 million, he has advised on transactions surpassing $1 billion. Beyond finance, Vivek is an active blogger and a passionate long-distance runner and triathlete.
