About Shlok Srivastava

Birth and Education

Shlok Shrivastava, widely recognized as TechBurner, is a respected content creator and influencer in the technology industry. Born on December 3, 1995, in Noida, Delhi, Shlok grew up with his sibling, Riya Srivastava. His father worked for the government, while his mother was a homemaker. Shlok completed his schooling at DPS (Delhi Public School) and pursued a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering at Delhi College.

As a child, Shlok had a fondness for gadgets, but his parents believed that indulging in expensive gadgets would distract him from his studies. Despite dreaming of getting into IIT in Delhi, Shlok recognized the challenging nature of the exams. Unfortunately, he didn’t achieve the necessary ranking to secure admission to the prestigious IIT college. However, his parents were determined to see him become an engineer, so he enrolled at SRM University in Chennai, majoring in Information Technology. In 2018, he graduated as an engineer from SRM University.

Initial Struggle

During the early stages of his career, Shlok initially worked as a software developer, utilizing his programming skills. However, he soon shifted his focus to content creation. Initially, he faced challenges as he started creating YouTube videos with limited production quality. Using his father’s laptop, which lacked a good camera and microphone, he uploaded videos that received criticism from friends who didn’t believe in his potential as a content creator. Despite the discouragement, Shlok continued uploading videos to his channel, aiming to make $100 to purchase a microphone. Unfortunately, his channel abruptly stopped, leaving him just $10 short of his goal. Despite the setback, he started his journey at SRM Chennai and gained substantial knowledge about technology during his first year of college.

Creation of Tech Burner Channel

In 2014, he created his personal YouTube channel under his name, Shlok Srivastava. Later that year, he launched his YouTube channel Tech Burner. Shlok chose the name “Tech Burner” for his domain name not just because it was available, but because it embodied his deep passion for technology. He wanted a name that conveyed the essence of mobility, freedom, and innovation. Initially, his videos were subpar, and some were even misleading, leading him to make them private. Simultaneously, he auditioned for a lead role in a college drama and got selected. While performing, an unfortunate mishap occurred when the microphone fell in front of the chief guest, turning his performance into a disaster.

Trying his Luck in Various Professions

Seeking a change, Shlok ventured into freelance poster design while also joining an NGO to educate people about transgenderism. Unfortunately, these endeavors didn’t yield any income, leaving him disheartened. Despite being an introvert with limited speaking abilities, Shlok persevered and focused on delivering valuable content. Gradually, he realized the importance of reaching a wider audience and shifted his approach by predominantly creating videos in Hindi. This decision allowed him to tap into the vast population of Hindi-speaking individuals in India who consumed online content.

Job Offer and Rejection

Around the same time, Shlok received a job offer with an annual salary of Rs. 8 lakhs. Despite his parents’ and friends’ advice to accept the job, he declined and pursued his dream of becoming a full-time content creator.

Silver Lining

With renewed determination, he dedicated himself to content creation and infused comedy into his tech videos, making them unique and enjoyable. Over time, his viewers started appreciating his videos, and he worked hard to incorporate various fun tactics to present his content. His viewership steadily increased, and he experienced exponential growth in his followers during the lockdown.

Other Successful Ventures

In addition to his success as a YouTuber, Shlok ventured into business and successfully developed several mobile applications with his team. He has a team of 15 tech developers.  Today, he is known not only as a thriving YouTuber but also as a businessman.

In one of his interviews, he mentions how he was inspired by Carry Minati for creating his videos. As Minati says that one should appear energetic in their videos, Shlok tries to follow the same concepts.

Net Worth

Shlok’s wealth surpasses $3 million USD, which is equivalent to over 24 crores in Indian Rupees. He derives his income from various sources, including collaborations, advertisements on YouTube, and sponsorships. Additionally, Shlok generates a significant revenue stream through his businesses, which involve selling phone skins and merchandise.

Final Thoughts

One of the defining factors behind Shlok’s eventual success was his ability to remain resilient during the initial phase when his videos received only a modest number of views, ranging from 20 to 30. Rather than being disheartened by the initial numbers, Shlok persisted in creating content because of his passion for the subject matter and his desire to educate people about technology.

Through dedication and perseverance, Shlok’s journey in the technology industry flourished, and he emerged as a prominent figure with a substantial following. His initial struggles and willingness to adapt his content strategy contributed significantly to his growth and success as a content creator and influencer. Today, he makes around 15 lakhs per month and is reaching one of the richest YouTubers in India in the tech field.
